The torso shows him with a blue and white Hawaiian shirt with red palm trees. I’m pretty sure LEGO used it as a reference. The Joker is in a tropical attire that looks very similar to the one seen in the iconic The Killing Joke graphic novel/movie. His accessories include a dolphin and a red lifeguard buoy. His facial expression shows him with a big smile while his cowl has a pair of swimming goggles over the eyes. The legs show him wearing a black speedo with a gold Batman symbol. The torso shows him with a muscular physique and can be useful in beach/ocean scenes. The other Batman minifigure in this series is a Swimsuit Batman. His facial expression shows him grinning through his normal black cowl. The black mermaid tail is new showing some scales on it. His torso shows him shirtless with some sea shells and the utility belt. The first Batman minifigure in this series is the very strange Mermaid Batman. The accessories include some green and blue flasks. The head shows him with some silver glasses and a light gray beard piece completes his look. He has on your typical white scientist outfit with no back printing. He also wears a green cape and the accessories include a pair of black spears.Īnother character that has been introduced from the Rogues Gallery is Professor Hugo Strange. The head makes use of the Gingerbread Man minifigure and it shows a large clock on the face. The torso and legs show him with smaller clocks throughout. His accessory includes a red guitar.Ĭlock King is a new character from Batman’s Rogues Gallery. His head shows him with a pair of gold sunglasses. Like with Harley, the back of the torso also has some glittering details. He also wears the white shiny suit which also has a white tie as well as a glittering skirt piece. The last character that was featured in the Friends are Family song is Alfred Pennyworth. The other characters can be found in The Joker Manor (70922). She rides on a pair of roller skates that are in pearl gold and silver. Surprisingly, there’s also some back printing of the shiny details. She has on the white outfit that the other characters had as well as a ballerina skirt piece. In addition to some of the main characters that were featured in the Friends are Family song at the end of TLBM, we also have Disco Harley Quinn. One new thing about this wave are the Batman branded baseplates that are used for the minifigures. Like with the previous series, there are a total of 20 minifigures to collect. So from the kid's perspective, the Lego Batman Movie was between the two Lego Movies, but from the perspective of his characters in the Lego Movies, the Lego Batman Movie only kinda sorta happened. In a surprise release at the beginning of the year, LEGO released Series 2 of The LEGO Batman Movie Collectible Minifigures (71020). I find this type of squishy chronology rather clever, as this is very real to how kids actually tell stories through play. Then in the end, he pulled in certain details from his Lego Batman story back into the Lego Movie 2, but only those details that seemed amusing to him. But all these inconsistencies are simply because the kid was creating a different kind of story, riffing off certain elements he's used before in his stories, and discarding others that weren't as interesting in the new story he was creating. Gotham only seems to exist in the Lego Batman movie, many characters that seem like they should be with Batman aren't in the Lego Movie, and so forth. However, as you mentioned, there are obvious and strange inconsistencies between the two movies. Observing the oblique reference to "Batman having a standalone adventure" means that almost certainly he told the Lego Batman Movie between the two Lego Movies. My reasoning is that the Lego Universe is just a particular kids stories that he acts out while playing. I believe the answer is both yes and kinda sorta. So the movie seems to address Lego Batman Movie as occurring (mentioning Batman is having a stand-alone adventure) while also ignoring most of it (no Gotham, no Robin and Batgirl, no Justice League party at the Fortress of Solitude, etc.)ĭid the events of The Lego Batman Movie occur as part of the Lego Cinematic Universe in between The Lego Movie and Lego Movie 2? Batman seems to be living with Alfred in a Batcave as part of Apocalypseburg. The Justice League (apart from Batman) has ventured through the Stairgate. However, Lego Movie 2 indicates that after The Lego Movie,īricksburg descends into chaos and becomes Apocalypseburg. From this movie alone, one would think that The Lego Batman Movie is part of the Lego Cinematic Universe. In The Lego Batman Movies, there are a couple references to the events of The Lego Movie, notably the fact that Batman is a master builder and that the city is built on a table. This may seem like a duplicate of this question, but information from The Lego Movie 2: The Second Part seems to provide a different take.
